WAURIA Performance 2-Piece Rotors are direct replacements of OEM rotors. Each rotor is specifically designed and tested for that particular vehicle model. Our rotors are designed to allow a direct bolt-on installation without any modifications, and to work flawlessly with OEM ABS and brake system while maintaining factory brake bias. Compatible with OEM brake pads or aftermarket pads with the same pad depth
Depending on the application. Most WAURIA Performance OEM replacement 2-piece rotors utilize either H-Bobbin, D-Bobbin, or fixed hat non-floating mounting systems. These rotors are track / race proven, and also suitable for public road use as they incorporate components for example anti-rattle spring clips and stainless steel hardware to minimize noise, vibration, and harshness
High performance automotive components tend to create more noise, vibration and harshness compared with OEM components. Most of our rotors utilize anti-rattle clips, but NVH is still possible. Our engineers make every effort to eliminate NVH and it is uncommon on our OEM replacement 2-piece rotors. NVH related problems with the brake system can be caused by many factors including calipers and brake pads. In any unlikely case that NVH occurs, please contact us and we will be more than happy to assist you with the issue.
Most OEM rotors are plain-faced while slotted rotors are the most common rotors in motorsport. Although, pad wear rate is slightly increased with slotted rotors, increased initial bite, stopping power, and improved brake modulation can be achieved by providing more leading edges for brake pads to bite. A slotted rotor improves brake consistency by constantly cleaning the pad surface and dissipate heat generated, and gases released when the pads come into contact with the rotors. Slotted rotors have a superior advantage over blank rotors in wet or raining conditions by preventing water films to form between the brake pad and rotor surface.
Drilled rotors are more prone to cracking when compared to plain and slotted rotors, and is not recommended for motorsport use in most cases.
2-piece rotors offer higher performance in general over standard 1-piece rotors. The design is completely different and allows for enhancements in the following aspects:
Floating design:
Fast driving place great strains on the brake system, and generate tremendous amount of heat. As temperature increases, iron rotor rings tend to expand and increase in diameter. With the use of floating hat & hardware, the floating 2-piece design allows expansion of the rotor assembly, and minimizes stress, deformation and cracking. The rotor is self-centered with the pads throughout the heat cycle and therefore allows consistent braking power and pedal feel.
Improved cooling performance:
Curved directional ventilation vanes create suction & turbulence, and guide cool air through the rotor to achieve greater thermal capacity and increased resistance to cracking under harsh track condition. The cool air guided by centrifugal force allows for up to 30% increase in cooling efficiency and runs up to 30% cooler over standard 1-piece units. This means the brake system can withstand heavier track usage and provide consistent braking performance.
Reduced unsprung weight:
Generally, our 2-piece rotors weight less than OEM units. The aluminum hats are made of aerospace grade aluminum and the vaned rotor construction further maximize weight reduction. Unsprung weight is the weight that is not supported by the vehicle’s springs. Reducing unsprung weight will improve overall corning, acceleration, and braking performance significantly.
Lower long-term maintenance cost:
Although, the initial cost of 2-piece rotors are higher than standard 1-piece units, the long-term maintenance cost is significantly lower. With 2-piece design, you will only need to replace the rotor rings when the rotors are worn out. The aluminum hats and bobbins can be reused in most cases. 2-piece rotors will last longer due to improved thermal and cooling capacity. Under heavy usage, 2-piece rotors are less prone to cracking and deformation. Standard 1 piece rotors may last 2-3 track days, while high performance 2-piece rotors will last significantly longer.
It is not necessary to clean the rotors with brake cleaner or soap before installation. Unlike many other manufacturers, Paragon does not apply oily anti-rust coating onto the rotors. WAURIA rotors are carefully packed with anti-rust poly bags. Please keep the anti-rust poly bags in case you need to store the rotors for an extended period.
